Electrotek Integrates Model 1133A Power Sentinel with InfoNode and PQView
Electrotek Announces InfoNode and PQView Integration with Arbiter Systems Model 1133A Power Sentinel™
Integrating Arbiter Systems® Model 1133A Power Sentinel™ with the Electrotek InfoNode® System, historical and real-time data can now be stored and viewed via Electrotek's PQView®, the industry standard for power quality database management and analysis. Electrotek Concepts completed the integration on behalf of Con Edison, supporting a network intermesh project in New York City in April 2010.
Electrotek developed a new module to support communications between one or more Arbiter Model 1133A Power Sentinels and Electrotek's InfoNode Server. The InfoNode allowed Con Edison grid operators to use an intranet web page to view real-time measurements that showed the difference in phase angle and rms voltage measured by Power Sentinels in the unit substations of the two networks that were being intermeshed.
The web page provided phasor updates every second, allowing grid operators to make crucial adjustments to the generators and transformers during the intermesh. Because of its precision and ease of use, the Power Sentinel and InfoNode solution allowed Con Edison to make the necessary transfer flawlessly.
In addition, Con Edison has integrated the data log measurements provided by its 1133A monitors into its PQView Power Quality Database Management and Analysis System. The 1133A provides basic metering quantities such as voltage, current, power, power factor, frequency, imbalance, and energy, along with power quality quantities such as harmonic distortion. Con Edison uses PQView to integrate data from many other electric power sensors including power quality monitors, microprocessor relays, digital fault recorders, and SCADA servers.
