When manufacturers use accuracy values to define the performance of their products, consumers should have confidence that, in fact, the products do perform to the stated levels. However, that is not always the case. This paper takes a look at several misconceptions about "accuracy" - particularly within the measurement and control markets of the electric utility industry - and discusses various methodologies that can be adopted to justify claims and ratings.
